Carolina Brewery Celebrates Its 25th Anniversary

Pittsboro & Chapel Hill, NC - Carolina Brewery, the oldest brewery in the Triangle, turns 25 years old on February 9, 2020. To commemorate the event, Carolina Brewery in Pittsboro is hosting two events. The restaurant and brewery is throwing a tapping party on Wednesday, February 5th, and holding an Open House on Saturday, February 8th. These events will celebrate the reopening of the restaurant after extensive renovations, an updated menu, and the launch of a new pale ale.

While Carolina Brewery maintains a rich past, its mission remains the same: to brew clean, thoroughly enjoyable beers, cook made-from-scratch American and Southern cuisine, and serve as a gathering place for the Triangle. To that end, Carolina Brewery has invested in extensive renovations at both of its locations. In 2017, it modernized its brewery restaurant in Chapel Hill, and the renovations to its Pittsboro locations were completed at the end of January this year. The Pittsboro restaurant now boasts a more open floor plan, new tables and booths, and new lighting and decor. Diners can see its dynamic kitchen in action and better partake in events on the patio. Garage doors and large-pane tower windows have merged the restaurant’s dining room and huge outdoor patio. When the garage doors are up, it creates a more welcoming and festive atmosphere. These combined spaces and the new patio bar will enhance Carolina Brewery’s regular tapping parties, seafood boils, oyster roasts, concerts, and other gatherings for Pittsboro and the Triangle.

Tapping Party

The first event to take place in the new space will be a tapping party on Wednesday, February 5th. At the party, Carolina Brewery will launch its new pale ale. The beer is a traditional American pale ale with bold notes of tropical fruit. Drafts will be available for $1 all day. Brewers will be available on-site to discuss the beer from 4pm to 6pm.

Open House

Saturday, February 8, 4pm-6pm

On Saturday, February 8th, Carolina Brewery will host an Open House from 4pm to 6pm. Residents of Raleigh and the Triangle are invited to see the renovated restaurant, tour the brewery, sample the new beer and menu items, stay for dinner, and watch the Duke vs. Carolina game. Although Robert Poitras, Carolina Brewery’s co-founder, is a fourth-generation Tarheel, fans of both teams are welcome.

In addition to renovating its Pittsboro location and launching a new beer, Carolina Brewery is celebrating its 25th anniversary by rolling out new menus at its Pittsboro and Chapel Hill locations. The new menu will add American and Southern staples: fried chicken, miso salmon, classic meatloaf, onion rings, roasted vegetable power bowls, and burgers and cheeseburger egg rolls made with house-ground beef. In the spirit of serving as a place to gather, Pittsboro will host fried chicken dinners every Wednesday night. Diners can order family-style platters of fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes, green beans, mixed vegetables, and collards.

Carolina Brewery is committed to the highest quality ingredients, most sourced from farms and vendors within 100 miles of the Triangle, including Pittsboro Bread Shop, Chapel Hill Creamery, Guglhupf Bakery, Lilly Den Farms, Cackalacky Inc., North Carolina seafood and other seasonal ingredients.

Despite its seasoned history of hosting and serving the Triangle for 25 years, Carolina Brewery continues to innovate and invest in ways to better fulfill its mission. Poitras: “I am excited that Carolina Brewery has survived a tough, competitive market for 25 years. We are ready to thrive and ride this wave for many more years.” With renovations that make Pittsboro a better venue for dining and events, a new menu that celebrates Southern cuisine and hospitality, and crisp new beers that anyone can enjoy, Carolina Brewery looks forward to many more decades of growing and serving the Triangle community.
